One of the accused in the Sarfraz Shah murder case on Tuesday moved to the Sindh High Court against the anti-terrorism court’s verdict.
Afsar Khan, the civilian who was given life imprisonment and Rs100,
000 fined for aiding the murder, appealed against the verdict through
his counsel AKhtar khan.
Sarfaraz Shah was shot at point blank range in a public park in
Clifton Karachi in 8th June. Footage of the brutal killing, filmed by a
television cameraman, was aired by all news channels and the Chief
Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad took a suo moto notice against
the incident.
The Supreme Court ordered to remove IG Police Sindh Fayaz Laghari
and DG Ranger’s Ejaz Chaudhry; meanwhile the apex court gave a month
limit to complete the proceeding of case.
The anti-terrorist court announced the verdict on 12th August and
awarded death sentence to ranger personal Shahid Zafar while life
imprisonment to other five ranger personnel and the guard of park.
The guard of park challenged the verdict in the Sindh High Court,
while other accused persons announced to challenge the verdict in Sindh
