LHC accepted plea for hearing against creation of new provinces

Lahore High Court accepted the application for hearing on the creation of new provinces and summoned the provincial and federal government for reply till the second week of September.

The hearing of case was conducted by Justice Sheikh Farooq Ahmad; meanwhile the counsel of applicant, Shabir Hussain argued during the hearing that there is no space in the constitution for the creation of new province, adding that no province could be created without changing the Article 239 of the Constitution, adding that if anybody would create new provinces then he would breach the law and constitution of the country.
The applicant requested the court to stop the federal and provincial assemblies to present any bill in the assembly regarding the creation of new provinces.
The applicant also requested the court that if government wants to create new provinces then it should change the Article 239 of the Constitution first.
According to the applicant the country is facing economic crisis and not able to bear the expenses of new provinces.
The court summoned the provincial and federal governments to submit reply on the plea and adjourned the hearing of the case till the second week of September. SANA
