Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza immediate sought the nominations from
the parliamentary parties to prepare the recommendations for the
improvement of Karachi and Balochistan law and order situation.
The 20 members committee would approve the recommendations for the improvement of the Karachi and Balochistan situation.
It is worth mentioning here that on the 12th August all the
parliamentary parties had passed the unanimous resolution for seting up
parliamentary committee to present its recommendations for the
improvement of the law and order situation in Karachi and Balochistan
and the collection of the names and formal setting up of committee was
left on the speaker NA.
Prime Minister Gilani on 14th August had asked speaker NA to constitute the committee on Karachi and Balochistan situation.
According to the sources the speaker NA has summoned the names from
the government and opposition parties and in this regard the NA
secretariat has written letters to the parliamentary leaders in this
regard.
It is worth mentioning here that the main opposition party Pakistan
Muslim League–Nawaz had already submitted names for the committee.
The committee would be bound to present it recommendation in two
months in the first phase the committee would give its suggestions
regarding the Karachi situation and in second phase the committee would
give its recommendations regarding Quetta situation; meanwhile the
committee would also give its recommendation for permanent peace in
both provincial capitals.
The members in the committee would be included according to the strength of the parties in the NA. SANA
