Chairman Capital Development Authority, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi has said that the
results of the first two phases of anti-litter awareness campaign in
Islamabad are encouraging and after the third phase we will be able to
achieve the milestone of litter free capital city.
Speaking at a briefing he said without the involvement of the masses
the desired goals could not be achieved. He stressed the citizens of
the capital to fully share their responsibility in this regard.
The Chairman CDA said littering in the capital is crime under CDA
Environmental Protection Regulations and those violating the law will
be fined accordingly. He said a mechanism is being devised to enforce
the law in letters and spirit.
Briefing on the occasion, Director Sanitation CDA Faiz Muhammad said
that a fully computerized sanitation helpline 1334 has been launched
that will address the complaints within thirty minutes time duration.
He said under the Anti Litter Awareness Campaign different programmes
are underway to educate the masses. SANA
