Supreme Court cancels leaves of NICL scam investigation team

Supreme Court of Pakistan has cancelled the leaves of NICL scam investigation team on Tuesday and sought a detailed report regarding the leaves of FIA officials including investigation report of the case.

The apex court summoned Interior Secretary, Director General FIA Tehseen Anwar Shah, Director FIA Lahore and four team members of Zafar Qureshi.
Three members bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising of Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ghulam Rabani heard the NICL scam case on Tuesday.
The apex court appointed DG, FIA Tehseen Anwar Shah as a member of Zafar Qureshi investigation team and directed to present the director FIA Lahore before the court who stopped Zafar Qureshi to entering office today (Wednesday); meanwhile the apex court directed to register a criminal case against the person who had given the fake information of bomb in the office.
Zafar Qureshi informed the court that FIA is not co-operating with him regarding the investigation of NICL case, adding the he twice called the meeting of investigation committee but nobody attended the meeting, adding that the team members were sent on leaves.
During the hearing, Mr Qureshi presented a report regarding his resumption of charge as Additional Director General of the FIA.
Qureshi told court that on August 12 evening Director FIA Lahore informed him about the bomb threat, adding that the investigation still cannot hand over the files of the case, adding that all these tactics were used to delay the investigations.
The DG, FIA Tehseen Anwar at the movement told the apex court that the team members of Qureshi went on leave their own will; meanwhile Justice Ghulam Rabani remarked that you are a failed DG, FIA and don’t know how to work.
Chief justice in remarks said that the government should cooperate in investigation of the scam instead of supporting the culprits, adding “its enough now Mr. Attorney General would tell the court what court should do”.
The court adjourned further proceeding of the case till today (Tuesday). SANA
