ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Ms.
Farzana Raja has said that timely disbursement of the financial
assistance among the BISP beneficiary families, and the role of
Pakistan Post (PP) in this regard is highly important and crucial.
She
said this while talking to Sardar Muhammad Umer Khan Gorgej, Federal
Minister for Postal service who met her at BISP Secretariat Tuesday.
Raja M. Ikram ul Haq, Secretary/DG Postal Services was also present on
the occasion. Chairperson BISP, on the occasion, lauded the efforts of
Sardar Muhammad Umer Khan Gorgej for taking effective measures to
improve the delivery mechanism of the financial assistance of BISP
among the beneficiary families. It may be recalled here that Pakistan
Post is the major source for the distribution of the financial
assistance of BISP through the Money orders at the door steps of the
beneficiary families. However, some complaints regarding inefficient
delivery often occur at the lower level.
Ms. Farzana Raja said
that the financial assistance of BISP is playing a crucial role in
improving the socio-economic conditions of the more than 4 million poor
beneficiary families. Therefore, she said, the timely disbursement of
this assistance is equally important. She said that the complaints
regarding disbursement being experienced at the lower level must be
redressed; for that, Chairperson BISP emphasized on the need for
improved monitoring and inspection system by Pakistan Post Office. Online
