ISLAMABAD: Members of parliament from 2 major parties of ruling
coalition including ANP and PML-Q have voiced grave concern over
tapping of their telephones and demanded of National Assembly (NA)
speaker Dr Fahmida Mirza to take immediate notice of it.
Bushra
Gauhar, MNA from ANP has said in a letter addressed to NA speaker her
telephone calls were being tapped and the matter was raised on
respective forum but tapping had not been stopped.
Being a
custodian of NA and protector of rights of members of NA, it is
incumbent on speaker NA to take prompt notice of this matter and stop
telephone tapping, she demanded.
When contacted Bushra Gauhar
confirmed the telephone bugging reports saying a letter had been sent
to speaker NA but she had not taken any notice of the letter. “I don’t
know on what grounds telephone of members of allied parties are being
tapped, she said. However it was matter of serious concern, she held.
Sources
told PML-Q legislator Nosheen Saeed had also raised the issue of
telephone tapping of PML-Q parliamentarians and ministers in the house
and alleged that their telephones were being tapped through interior
