Swiss government donates 10 helicopters to Pakistan for rescue & relief operations

Multan :Swiss Charge D'affair Mr. Nicolas Plattner has disclosed that his government has donated ten surplus Alouette-III Helicopters along with spare parts and associated kits to Pakistan for non-combat search and rescue missions as well as for humanitarian assistance in future relief operation.

Three of them had already been delivered and remaining seven are being transferred according to the schedule. Pakistan air force would operate and maintain these choppers on behalf of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Delivering his speech at a meeting of executive Committee of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), Mr. Nicolas stressed the need for boosting trade and investment activities between Pakistan and Switzerland to achieve the common goals. He said that renowned Swiss Multinational companies had established a Swiss Business Council (SBC)to develop, facilitate and monitor the trade and business relations between two countries. It was another remarkable step in bilateral trade, he added.
He suggested that Pakistani traders should approach to OSEC for requiring information. It is an organization for promotion of Swiss exports, imports and investment as well as for the promotion of Switzerland as a business location.
He said that Swiss investors had injected one billion US dollars in Pakistan and 19 Swiss companies are well known here. These companies had created thousands of attractive jobs for Pakistanis besides marketing their world class products.
He said that the economic ties between Switzerland and Pakistan are built on solid ground, a reality which the present economic circumstances did not mar. The trade between Pakistan and Switzerland had been increasing steadily until recent years and reached about half a billion Swiss francs however camedown to about 360 million dollar. Switzerland is exporting textile machinery, precision equipment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and watches. For its part, Pakistan is exporting textiles, garments and various agricultural products.
