LAHORE: All CNG filling stations in the Punjab will go on strike from today (Wednesday) for an infinite period while owners of petrol pumps will also support this call for one-day and keep the pumps closed in both the federal and provincial capital.
The All Pakistan CNG Association has given the call for the strike against, what it termed, unjustified and flawed gas distribution policy of the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd (SNGPL). According to the Supreme Council APCNGA chairman, the strike would be peaceful and it was meant only to highlight the plight of the CNG industry.
“Gas loadshedding is unjustified in summer,” he said, adding that they had been bearing heavy losses since the last year due to the mandatory cut in gas supply. “Even now in summer season, the gas loadshedding is still going on, which has no justification at all,” he observed and added, “We have been in continuous consultation with the government to resolve our issues but could not get any positive response from it. That is why we are forced to call a strike.”
