ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has said that doctors’ employment job security would be ensured and they would be provided better opportunities for promotion.
Talking to media outside the parliament house the Prime Minister appealed to the doctors to remain in Pakistan and to serve the people.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said that he has approved the service structure of the doctors. He said a committee has been constituted which would submit its report within fifteen days in this regard.
The Prime Minister also announced that the services of the contractual doctors have been regularised. In this connection if any support was needed from Assembly or through ordinance it would be exercised to give them job security.
The Prime Minister said that a doctor is becoming professional doctors after hard working and labor to this position and now they would have service structure to serve in their own country.
He said that the government would provide complete protection to the doctors and provide the places for promotion, adding that the government has accepted the demands of the service structure of the doctors.
Federal Ministers Mian Raza Rabbani, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Syed Khursheed Shah, Farooq Saeed Khan and representatives of the doctors were also present on the occasion.
Representatives of doctors welcomed the Prime Minister with the rose petals. The Prime Minister said that the demands of the doctors about service structure are 63 years old.
He said that in the absence of service structure the doctors tried to go out of country and it is better for doctors’ to remain in the country and serve the masses, adding that the government would provide all the facilities to the doctors.
Prime Minister said if any other group of doctors want to dialogue with the government then the government is ready for dialogue. Secretary Health Nargis Sethi said that all the doctors accepted this package including the senior doctors. She said that the doctors who would not practice at private clinics would get 15,000 thousand rupees instead of 4,000.
After the accepting the demands the doctors arranged a rally in favor of Prime Minister from parliament house to Prime Minister Secretariat.
They were of the opinion that it is only Peoples Party which always provide protection to the employees. They chanted slogans in favor of government and danced at beets of drum.
