Karachi : Pakistan Peoples’ Party Women Wing Sindh Information Secretary Ms. Sharmila Farooqui said on Wednesday that the present government was committed to take all coalition partners onboard besides redressing the grievances of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) and the Awami National Party (ANP) through its reconciliation policy.
"The PPP government wanted durable peace in the country, particularly in Karachi and is making hectic efforts to resolve political and social issues through reconciliation. All issues faced by coalition partners will soon be resolved in a peaceful and democratic manner," she said in a statement.
Sharmila asked all political parties to join hands with the governmentfor ensuring durable peace and strong democracy in the country. “We are one nation, so we should shun our petty differences and jointly work for the progress of the country. Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto always struggled for strengthening federation besides boosting inter-provincial harmony for the sake of the country and the nation, so wemust also jointly work in this regard,” she said.
She said Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had provided a consensus Constitution in 1973 but dictators Gen Zia and Musharraf amended it ina bid to get their nefarious designs of prolonging their rules, butPresident Asif Ali Zardari has done a good job by getting consensus from all major political parties through reconciliation policy to bring the Constitution in original shape by introducing the 18th Amendment. "The PPP is the sole party in the country which has always been given crippling miseries ahead of coming to power however it is fully determined to resolve such issues on priority basis. Hectic efforts are underway to restore peace in Karachi and resolve the issues of the citizens on priority basis, she said.
Sharmila said efforts are also being made to ensure peaceful and transparent house census across the country, including Karachi. It is the slogan of the PPP government to provide full freedom and peace to people so that they could live a happy life, she said. Sharmila asked political, social, civil society and media organizations to support government in its endeavor to restore peace in Karachi. Shesaid that media could play a significant role in this regard and that was why the government was attaching top priority to media besides encouraging media persons to discharge their duties honestly. She said the government was not only trying to resolve the social, religious and political issues but also wanted to resolve economic issues on priority basis and that was why it had started consultation with all the political parties to devise a comprehensive and long-term economic reform plan for accelerating pace of sustainable economic growth. The government has launched innovative development projects and vowed to complete them within stipulated time so as to change the fate of people, she said. The timely completion of development projects will not only mitigate the sufferings of the people but also help alleviate poverty in the country, she added.
Sharmila said the government was also committed to carry forward the devolution process in a true spirit to benefit the people from 18th Constitutional Amendment.
