Supreme Court summons DNA reports of persons killed in Lal Masjid operation

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday summoned the DNA reports of those killed during the Lal Masjid operation in a one week.

Two-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Javed Iqbal and comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani heard the missing person’s case.
During the hearing of the case Justice Javed Iqbal said that if a single foreigner is arrested in Pakistan it creates cyclone but no one has tension about the Pakistanis arrested in foreign countries.
The apex court criticized Pakistani ambassadors and the foreign ministry over the conditions of Pakistanis imprisoned abroad and directed them to deal with this matter, adding that they are not appointed in foreign countries to spend luxurious life they should deal the matters of Pakistanis arrested in foreign country for one day in a week.
The court also said that the ambassadors could be summoned in court if the need would arise.
Justice Javed Iqbal further said that no secret agency is allowed to arrest any person by violating the constitution of the country.
Additional Attorney General K.K. Agha on behalf of the Foreign Ministry informed the court that four missing persons, Yaqoob Fiaz, Mohammed ul Hassan, Mohammed Zobair and Burhanuddin have been found. He added that the process of providing families of the missing persons a monthly allowance had started.
The SC criticized the Foreign Ministry’s report on Pakistanis imprisoned abroad and Justice Javed Iqbal said that if there was any fault in bringing the Pakistanis home then action would be taken against the Foreign Ministry.
The secretary of the missing person’s commission also informed the court that 108 out of 336 cases have been dealt with. Eighty-three individuals have been detected, 20 were never missing and 5 cases have been dealt with because they were incomplete.
Interior Ministry report said I person from KP and 3 from Punjab were recovered. The court expressed dissatisfaction over the report.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a report about Pakistanis held abroad. The court said the envoys are also accessible if they do not perform.
A separate investigation will be conducted for the missing persons of Lal Masjid.
Justice Javed Iqbal ordered the SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam to present the report of the DNA tests of the killed persons in Red Mosque operation in one week.
On this Tahir Alam said that he was appointed in Islamabad in 2009; meanwhile the operation was conducted in 2007, adding that he would submit the report after collecting the record from concerned persons in the court.
Justice Javed Iqbal said that the heirs of the persons killed in Lal Masjid persons should know whereabouts of their near and dear one, adding that they should know that their children were killed or are present somewhere else, adding that those who are missing should be recovered.
He said that purpose of the court is the recovery of the missing persons, adding that those who were recovered should contact courts.
During the hearing the Defence of Human Rights Chairperson Amina Masood Janjua said that the one of the four persons released was again arrested by the political agent.
Justice Javed Iqbal said that it is not the responsibility of the court to run the affairs of the country, adding that the ambassadors present in abroad are not Mughal princes, who could not be accessed.
The court adjourned the further hearing of the case till the next two weeks. SANA
