Federal Ministries, Divisions revamped after completion of devolution process

ISLAMABAD: After complete devolution of 17 ministries and divisions to the provinces under the 18th Amendment, federal ministries and divisions have been revamped.

Under which the number of federal ministries would be 30 instead of 47 and divisions would be 35 instead of 53
As per the Cabinet Division sources, under the directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani federal ministries and divisions have been reorganized, under which the ministry of Cabinet Secretariat will be comprised on 3 divisions includes; Cabinet Division, Establishment Division and Capital Administration & Development Division.
The following Ministries will comprise on their respective divisions such as Commerce Division will consist of Ministry of Commerce, Communication Division on Ministry of Communication, Defense Division on Ministry of Defense, Defense Production Division on Ministry of Defense Production while Economic Affairs Division and Statistics Division have been merged into Economic Affairs & Statistics Division.
On the other side, Finance Ministry will consist on 3 divisions including Finance, Revenue and Planning and Development.
The ministries and divisions which have been changed ncludes; Foreign Ministry, Housing and Construction, Industry, Information & Broadcasting, Information Technology, Interior Ministry, Inter-Provincial Coordination Affairs, Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Anti-Narcotics, Overseas Pakistanis, Petroleum & Natural Resources, Shipping & Ports, Postal Services, Privatization, Production, Railways, Religious Affairs, Science & Technology, States & Frontier Regions (SAFRON), Textile Industry and Water & Power. Whereas, Human Rights Division has been given a status of Ministry.
The sources further told that at present there are 29 Ministers of 30 Ministries, however only 21 are functional. There are 6 Ministers including Mir Hazar Bijrani, Ameer Muqam, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Israr Zahiri, Riaz Peer Zada and Ch. Wajahat Hussain still have not been awarded their portfolios.
Meanwhile, the resignation of 2 federal ministers Babar Ghouri and Farooq Sattar has not been accepted yet and are still shown to be part of cabinet. Online
