Restoration of peace top priority: Commissioner Karachi

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed has directed all deputy commissioners and municipal officers that restoration of law and order was top priority as all affairs were related to the law and order situation.

While addressing a high level meeting in Commissioner Office on Tuesday, the Commissioner said to officers to pay attention on performing municipal affairs especially cleaning and sanitation, lifting and disposal of garbage to landfill sites and preparation for monsoon season so that the citizens could be saved from problems. Emergency service, fire brigade, medical institutions etc. should carry on work as usual and the municipal officers should give final shape to arrangements for Shab-e-Baraat.
During the meeting jurisdiction of five districts were determined according to which the District South will consist of Saddar, Lyari and Jamshed Town (former), District Central Liaquatabad, North Karachi, Gulberg and North Nazimabad, District Malir Malir, Gadap and Ghazi Barohi Union Council and Jaffer Tayyar, District East Shah Faisal, Landhi, Gulshan, Korangi and some part of Malir whilethe District West will consist of Baldia, SITE, Gadap and Orangi.
Commissioner Karachi said the offices of all five deputy commissioners were established at the same old locations where they existed in 2001 while the offices of district municipal corporations were also being setup at the old places. People can now contact with the concerned office for their complaints while the commissioner house will also remain open for 24 hours.
He stated to all officers that public complaints must be addressed on priority basis. Mutual coordination with municipal officers should be ensured during monsoon. Solid waster management, fire brigade, health and other essential services department fulfill their duties so that the people could be saved from trouble during rains. He said the deputy commissioners should by establishing the jurisdiction of their district begin cleanliness work from today and also initiate fumigation campaign especially in Katchi abadies and around Nullahs.
Commissioner Karachi also instructed officers to ensure cleaning in city graveyards on the eve of Shab-e-Baraat. He said all the garbage of the districts must be shifted to landfill sites and wall chalking and banners should be removed as they put adverse affect on the beauty of the city. Online
