Steps afoot to remove Balochistan’s sense of deprivation: Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan

Federal Minister for Information  Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Tuesday that concrete steps were being taken to remove sense of deprivation among the people of Balochistan.  She was talking to reporters on her arrival at Quetta Airport.  Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said several decisions had been taken to remove backwardness of Balochistan and to put it on the track of progress and prosperity.She said the decisions taken for the development of Balochistan would be implemented in letter and spirit. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani would announce these measures at a press briefing to be held after the Federal Cabinet meeting in Quetta.

She said the 18th Amendment had ensured provincial autonomy and ended the concurrent list. The PPP-led coalition government had fulfilled its promise of provincial autonomy and maximum empowerment to the provinces.
Dr Firdous said that the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and 18th Amendment had borne fruit. She said the Prime Minister and the Federal Cabinet had brought a message of peace and prosperity for the people of Balochistan.
She said the development of country was linked with the development of Balochistan.She said that Prime Minister Gilani in had conveyed a message by celebrating Provincial Autonomy Day on July 1 that the Federal Government was sincere to give maximum rights to the provinces and to resolve the problems of their people.
