9 die, 5 injured in passenger van incident: ED PIMS

Nine persons died and five others injured  when a Kalar Syedan bound passenger bus coming from Rawalpindi caught fire  due to explosion of a gas cylinder at Loi Bher bridge in Koral Police Station  area on Tuesday. Talking to APP, Executive Director of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Prof. Mehmood Jamal said nine bodies and five injured were  shifted to the hospital.He said the injured had burn injuries and shifted to Burn Center after  getting initial medical assistance at the Emergency Ward.

Out of total five injured persons, four males and one female were admitted to the hospital for medical treatment while only one body out of nine was identified as Karam Din s/o Abdul Aziz (age 45) of Kahota while remaining eight were unidentified as all bodies were badly burnt, Dr Farukh Kamal and Dr Naseer Khan told APP, who conducted post mortem of the bodies.
“We collected bone parts of dead bodies as sample for DNA test and will hand over to Islamabad police on Wednesday,” Dr Farukh said.
Meanwhile, Joint Executive Director PIMS Dr Altaf Hussain said that a  helpline has been established for assistance of relatives of injured and deceased  persons and asked them to get any information by calling on telephone number  051-9260470 round the clock.
The local administration of federal capital has also set up another helpline with telephone number 051-9261504.
He said additional medical and para medical staff have been deployed for  special medical care of the injured persons and best health facilities are being  provided to them.
He said out of five, one injured identified as Ehtesham Shafique s/o Shafique  who is resident of village Loi Bher was in critical
condition who received superficial burns on front, back of both lower limbs, besides deep wound on left hand and  superficial wound on right thigh.
He added another injured Kaneez d/o Nazir Masih of Dhok Kala Khan was in  stable condition who received minor superficial injuries on lower limbs while  Muhammad Ali s/o Zamir Akhtar of Nae abadi Chowk Bandori, tehsil Kalar Syedan  was also in stable condition who received minor superficial injury on abdomen  and lower limbs.
He said Muhammad Haroon s/o Muhammad Manzoor of tehsil Kalar Syedan was  also in stable condition who received minor injuries in lower limbs and cervical  region while Mumtaz s/o Allah Yar,a resident of Chak No 96, Sahiwal received  minor injuries on both lower limbs and was in stable condition. APP
