ISLAMABAD: Standing committee Senate on Rules and Regulation has
expressed its annoyance over absence of PML (N) MNA Anusha Rehman who
did not appear before committee despite the fact that a privilege
motion against her was to be discussed in the meeting.
During
the meeting chairman of the committee Senator Tahir Mushadi told the
members that the committee had also sent a letter to Anusha Rehman in
which she has been asked to clarify her position regarding privilege
motion against her. He said that according to rules and regulation no
member of the parliament could pass any remarks against sitting
Chairman Senate or Speaker National Assembly. The meeting was adjourned
due to absence of Anusha Rehman .
On the occasion Minister for
Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told the committee that inspite that
a controversial article was published , Chairman Senate or his office
did not take any action against the writer.
It is pertinent to
mention here that after the election of opposition leader in Senate,
MNA Anusha Rehman wrote a controversial article in a newspaper against
Chairman Senate Farooq H Naik. On which the leader in Upper House of
Parliament Nayyar Bukhari submitted a privilege motion against her. The
committee also called editor of the paper in which her article was
published.
The second privilege motion was presented by ANP’s
Senator Zahid Khan against the administration of Sui Northern Gas
Pipeline Limited that the former MD SNGPL submitted him wrong report
regarding laying gas pipelines in his constituency as he was told that
the work was completed . When he invited Chief Minister KP to
inaugurate the project , it was revealed that work was not even started
there.
On the occasion the new MD SNGPL sought pardon from the
committee and ensured that the work would be started soon in the
constituency of Zahid Khan. Online
