LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said
declaration of war by government against the judiciary will lead the
country to devastation.
“ PPP led government has declared open
war against supremacy of judiciary and justice. We accept this
challenge and we are ready to render every sacrifice to win this war”,
Shahbaz said this while addressing a press conference here Tuesday. He
alleged that government had refused to implement decisions of judiciary
to cover up its corruption. He underlined government was not
implementing decisions of the courts. On one hand courts were also
pursuing soft stance and on the other hand rulers were insulting the
judiciary, he remarked.
Besides President Asif Ali Zardari the
attitude of Prime Minster Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani with courts was also
deplorable, he observed.
He said prime minister was not only
chief executive of the country but he was also head of the parliament.
It was his moral, legal and political obligation being head of two
pillars of the state he should ensure honour and respect of third
pillar and play his due role for continuity of process of justice.
If
Prime Minister and his aides did not review their decision, they will
not only have to be answerable to history but they will also have to be
accountable to 170 million people of the country, he cautioned.
The
nation which could come on the roads for the restoration of judiciary
it could also ensure the respect of judges, he underscored.
“We
have pledged we will not let the highest centres of justice to be
disgraced. We know if the hands reaching out to the judiciary are not
stopped today then our sovereignty, dignity and independence can be put
at stake in coming days”, he observed.
”We are ready to
discharge our national obligation for the sake of supremacy of justice
and implementation of courts decisions. We will ensure respect for
judiciary at all levels.”, he added.
No society can remain
alive by ravaging the centres of justice. We have decided to block the
way of corrupt rulers with full force if the verdicts of the court
continue to be denigrated. We will frustrate their evil designs”, he
said. “We are ready to sacrifice our government for the sake of dignity
of the judiciary.
Responding to a question he said it was the
first time in the history of the country that court’s decisions were
being put into dustbin.
The whole nation will have to rise
against the sinister bids being employed by government against the
process of justice and accountability. , he added. Online
