Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq
Awan Tuesday said that the government respected the judiciary and all
its decisions would be implemented in letter and spirit. “There
was ambiguity regarding appointment of DG FIA which has been clarified
and the government would ensure implementation of the decision of the
apex court,” she said while talking to media at Allama Iqbal
International Airport.Regarding
abolition of NAB, she said that NAB represents the sentiments of the
masses and the process of accountability of the corrupt would disrupt
in case NAB was abolished.
The minister said that NAB was not
being disbanded as it was necessary to check corruption in the society,
adding that approval of the parliament would be sought on NAB through
legislation, if needed.
Firdous said that the government had also approached the opposition leader in the national assembly for his opinion on NAB.
About de-weaponizing Karachi, she said that the government would consult Peace Committee on the issue and Karachi would be de-weaponized if the committee recommended so.
To a question regarding matric results in Punjab, she said that Punjab is not only effluent in riches but in problems too.
She said that Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif should take a decision regarding the declaration of matric results in all the educational boards of the province without any further delay. APP
