Prime
Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday directed the Ministry of
Industries to keep a close vigilance over the production and marketing
of sugar to ensure that the price of sugar remains affordable for
common people. The
Prime Minister gave this direction after taking notice of a news item
appeared in a national Urdu daily mentioning that sugar cartels are
planning to increase the prices of sugar before the holy month of
Ramadan.He
also asked the provincial governments to check the possibility of
hoarding and black-marketing of sugar particularly before the holy
month of Ramadan. APP
