NA body agrees on empowering PAC to recover principal amount plus interest from corrupt elements

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on privileges and rules and regulations has agreed on transferring more powers to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to recover looted money from corrupt elements on the basis of principal money plus interest.

Committee met here Monday under its chairman Nadim Afzal Chan which reviewed the amendments presented by Hummayun Saifullah to amend rule 203 of NA.
Hummayun Saifullah proposed if any person or institution had minted money through illegal means, or corruption or mismanagement then principle amount along with interest be recovered from him. The change in the value of rupee be also kept in view while affecting the recovery.
All the members of committee while agreeing upon this amendment have solicited opinion from fiancé ministry, auditor general and PAC in this respect.
Committee also took stern notice of mistreatment of doctor Irshad with Inayat Ali Shah MNA of Chiniot. Online
