Rawalpindi: Pak Army has launched military operation in Kurram
Agency, which aimed to clear the area from the terrorists and
miscreants elements.
According to ISPR the subversive
activities of the terrorists including suicide attacks, killing and
kidnapping of the locals, blocking the road connecting lower with upper
and Kurram were going on unabated in Kurram Agency since long.
Local elders (Tribal Mashran) were demanding the operation for many months.
It
is pertinent to mention here that Kurram Agency is located near settled
areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar and Kohat. As the
violence in these settled areas is once again on rise. Some analysists
believe that the suicide attacks in the adjacent areas as well as
certain settled districts including Peshawar, in proximity with
semi-tribal and tribal areas, are harboured from Kurram and Orakzai
Agencies.
Pakistani security forces launched several successful
operations in Orakzai in last two years resulting in controlling the
area. Now the operation is on ground in Kurram Agency that would not
only improve law and order in the tribal agency but would also secure
the route to Peshawar that was blocked some years ago causing
difficulties for the already militancy-hit people of the agency. Online
