A notification for revision of Basic Pay Scales, allowances and pension of civil servants of the Federal Government has been issued.
Basic Pay Scales 2011 have been announced which will replace the Basic Pay Scales 2008 with effect from Ist of this month.
The basic pay of an employee who was in service on 30th of last
month will be fixed in new scales on point to point basis. In case of
personal pay being drawn by an employee as part of basic pay beyond the
maximum of pay scale on 30th of last month, shall continue to draw such
pay in new scales at the revised rates.
Five special additional allowances and ad-hoc relief allowances
granted from 1999 to July 2009 have been merged with new pay scales.
The Adhoc Allowance 2010 at the rate of fifty percent of the running
basic pay of Basic Scale 2008 will stand frozen at the level of its
admissibility as on 30th of last month. All the new entrants shall also
be allowed this allowance.
The Adhoc Relief Allowance of 2011 at the rate of 15% announced in
the budget would be admissible on running basic pay with effect from
first of this month and shall stand frozen at the same level. The 15%
increase would also be admissible to contingent paid staff and contract
employees employed against civil posts in BPS on standard terms and
conditions of contract appointment.
All the new entrants in BPS-16 to BPS-22 would be allowed medical
allowance at the rate of 15% of the minimum of relevant Basic Pay
Scales-2008 on notional basis with effect from first of this month and
shall stand frozen at the same level.
The notification says all the special pays, special allowances or
the allowances admissible as percentage of pay including house rent
allowance shall stand frozen at the level of admissibility as on 30th
of June this year.
Conveyance allowance of employees in BPS-1 to 4 has been increased
from 680 to 850 rupee a month; BPS-5 to 10 from 920 to 1150 rupee a
month and BPS-11 to 15 from the existing 1360 rupee to 1700 rupee per
month. The new pay scales are:

All the existing civil pensioners of the Federal Government
including civilians paid out of defence estimates have been allowed an
increase in their pension from Ist of this month. Penssioners who
retired on or after first of July 2002 would get 15 percent increase in
net pension while those who retired on or before 30th of June 2002
would get 20% increase in net pension. SANA
