Ex-RMC principal seeks time to appear before inquiry committee

RAWALPINDI: Former principal of Rawalpindi Medical College Dr Mussaddaq who is facing corruption and misuse of powers charges have sought more time to appear before inquiry committee constituted under chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Dr Musaddaq Khan had fled abroad. A 3-member final inquiry committee led by provincial secretary has been constituted to probe into charges of corruption, corrupt practices and abuse of powers against Dr Mussaddaq.
Committee comprising vice chancellor King Edward Medical College University Prof Aslam and Chief planning and development Khalid Javed and headed by provincial secretary Auqaf Arshid stayed in Rawalpindi for 3 days. It recorded the statements of different persons on the allegations levelled against professor Dr Mussaddaq Khan including preparation of fake certificate of house job in respect of his son and its verification, awarding contracts to his favourite drug manufacturing companies and irregular purchase of syringes and obtaining kick backs in purchases running into billion of rupees.
Former Medical Superintendent (MS) of District Headquarters Hospital Dr Khalid Malik could not appear before the committee being in Adiala jail.
25 officers including former MS Holy Family Hospital Dr Abid Shah, Chairman Purchase Committee Prof Dr Ajmal, Ventilator technical committee Sarwar Gondal, former MS Holy Family Hospital Dr Muhammad Hussain Baloch, Gynaecologist Dr Rizwana Chaudhry, Dr Abida, Dr Farooq Kasana, Director Finance Rashid and Dr Shams recorded their statements. Committee conducted inquiry against Dr Mussaddaq Khan, former MS Holy Family hospital Dr Muhammad Hussain Baloch and former accounts officer Tariq.
Committee will submit its report to chief minister Punjab and action will be initiated against these officers in the light of recommendations of inquiry committee. Online
