KARACHI: All Pakistan CNG Association has warned the Prime Minister
Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani if he would approve the summary for increasing
the gas price, then the Association would not only move the Supreme
Court but also contact the masses.
Chairman of the Association
Malik Khuda Buksh and Abdul Sami Khan said this while addressing a
press conference at Karachi Press Club here on Monday. They said that
huge investment of Rs 235 billion has been made in CNG sector in the
country so far.
Khuda Buksh said that if the summary is
approved , some 3379 CNG stations of the country would be closed down.
“A committee comprising of sitting judge of Supreme Court,
representatives of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, OGRA
and CNG Association , to fix the price of CNG”, he added.
He
said that CNG is fuel of middle class and about 40 million people are
using it but some opportunists have been activated to boost the LPG .
He said that according to summary the price of CNG in Karachi would be
Rs 97 per kg while it will be available for Rs 103 per kg in Islamabad
, which would be Rs 40 higher from the petrol prices that would
certainly lock up the CNG industry.
On the occasion Abdul Sami
Khan said that the issue of increasing the price of CNG might be
resolved after consultation with all stakeholders . He said that
neither there is any shortage of gas in the country nor government can
close down the industry in Sindh as the production of natural gas in
Balochistan and Sindh is more than any other part of the country.
He
said that the government is acting upon the agenda of petroleum
companies. In some places of Pakistan even petrol is not provided to
the people , where CNG works as substitute fuel but the government is
compelling to shut down CNG industry. Online
