The Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has termed the verification of the electoral lists in Karachi a fraud aimed at rigging the polls.
Addressing the JI office bearers from Karachi at Idara Noor e Haq,
he said that the process of electoral rolls had been hijacked by a
terrorist party and the verification of lists was a fraud in which the
Election Commission and NADRA were a party.
He said the people deputed on the preparation of electoral lists and
their verification were being given threats while at several areas, the
teachers deputed for the job had been relieved and the workers of a
particular party were being entrusted this job.
He warned that if the process of preparation of electoral lists and
their verification was not made transparent, no one would believe the
election results. He said once again, bogus electoral lists were being
prepared that would render the whole electoral process a farce as those
elected through bogus electoral lists won’t be true representatives of
the people.
The JI chief said repeated hijacking of the election process was an
insult to the electorate. He said the people claiming faith in
democracy should take notice of such violation of democratic process
and values and take stern action against the elements hindering the
preparation of electoral lists.
The JI chief was informed on the occasion that the Rangers had
recently recovered thousands of NADRA’s fake identity cards from MQM’s
sector office which supported the JI claim that up to four thousand
bogus votes had been registered in every Union Council of Karachi. SANA
