Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has called for coordinated efforts at the federal and provincial level to curb the dengue virus.
Speaking in the National Health Conference in Lahore on Monday, he
said there is no need to panic and we will be able to successfully deal
with the challenge. He said that dengue is a preventable condition and
by raising awareness among the masses, we can control the spread of
virus to other areas of the country.
He said the disease is not restricted to Pakistan and one province
rather it is a global phenomenon and with concrete measures, the
situation can be addressed.
He said our medical experts are capable to meet the challenge and already has made significant progress towards that end.
Prime Minister Gilani pointed out the dengue has the potential of
spreading to other areas, therefore the federal government and the
provincial governments will work in coordination to deal with the
present situation.
He said though the health is a provincial subject but the federal
government stands by the Punjab government in dealing with the current
and future health related issues.
He said that the federal government along with the United Nations
and its development partners are mobilizing all resources to control
the disease in a manner that is sustainable and viable. SANA
