LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement is ready to play a significant role in politics of the Punjab, Deputy Convener Rabitta Committee Dr Farooq Sattar said on Monday. Addressing a press conference, he said the oppressed people of the Punjab were taking the MQM as the third option.
He said, “We have seen great mobilisation of people in the MQM public meeting held on Sunday in Lahore. “The MQM has always stressed for discipline in all fields of life,” he added. He said his party’s Quaid Altaf Hussain in his telephonic address to the public meeting covered almost all aspects, including independent Pakistan, independent foreign policy, corruption, unemployment and others.
He said Altaf Hussain had understood the problems of people because he had faced all these problems himself. Farooq added that Sunday’s public meeting proved that now the people of the Punjab had joined Quaid Altaf Hussain’s “Tehreek”, aimed at “strengthening Pakistan”.
