Executive Director of Kashmir Centre London, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl has said that the plight of women in Occupied Kashmir is a matter of great concern for all the international human rights organisations. Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl in a statement issued in London on the occasion of International Women's Day, Tuesday, said that women had been used as a weapon of war by the Indian administration in the occupied territory. He pointed out that from Kunan Pooshpora to Sopore there were abundant examples of harassment and humiliation of womenfolk in the occupied territory, Kashmir Media Service reported.
He said that women had suffered psychological andphysical horrors at the hands of Indian troops, addingthat many villages in the territory were known as villages of molested women. "There are women who have no information about the whereabouts of their husbands picked up by the Indian agencies," the Executive Director maintained.
Professor Shawl appealed to the international community to help bring honourable and just resolution of the Kashmiri dispute and restore the dignity of all the people including the suffering women in the territory. APP
