Dr. Qaisar Mahmood of Department of Environmental Sciences, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad has been conferred with Tamgha-I-Imtiaz.
President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred the Civil Award on Dr. Qaisar Mahmood for excellence in the field of Environmental Sciences on the 65th Independence Day of the country. The investiture ceremony will take place on the coming Pakistan Day on March 23, 2012.
Dr. Qaisar Mahmood has fifteen years of broad-based local and
international academic and research experience in life sciences and
environmental sciences in application of living process biochemistry
for the environmental remediation of toxic metals, dyes, inorganic and
organic pollutants.
Have special experience in phytoremediation of toxic metals, dyes
and anaerobic treatment of domestic and industrial wastewaters through
processes like denitrification, Anammox and related nitrogen removal
biotechnologies.
He has published more than 100 research papers in International
impact factor journals with more than 300 citations. Moreover he
supervised 2 PhD, 20 M. Phil and 15 M. Sc students.
He was awarded with Academic Roll of Honor by Forman Christian
College Lahore (1994) for securing Second position in Punjab University
M. Sc Botany Examination.
He was awarded with Best University Teacher Award by Higher
Education Commission of Pakistan for year 2009. Moreover, he has
received Research Productivity Allowance from Ministry of Science and
