ISLAMABAD: Family members of a serving police officer are taking
full advantage of the proverbial status police force is enjoying in
this country and have indulged in the illegal activities including
harassment of citizens, occupation of land and kidnap for ransom.
According
to details, father and brother of a Superintendent of Police have
occupied 14-kanal piece of lot that belongs to a UK-return Pakistani
Khalid Mehmood. Upon resistance and protest, Khalid was kidnapped and
shifted to the tribal area and was released after twenty-one days when
his son paid a huge amount as ransom.
Talking to Online on
Wednesday Khalid Mehmood narrated his sad story saying he had returned
to Pakistan from the United Kingdom some four years ago and after
settling in G-11, started construction business. Meanwhile, he acquired
a plot measuring 1.14-kanal in Bhara Kahu and got a two-storey house
constructed on the land.
Later, he had to sell it to Sh Nasim
Adil, father of SP Kamran Adil. Sh Nasim made a down payment of Rs1
million and promised to pay the rest within three months. After the
given time, he approached him at least for three times but had to
return every time empty handed. Khalid said, “Whenever I went there for
money they sought more time and sent me back.”
During one such
occasion, when he was returning home from Sh Nasim Adil’s office after
having failed in getting his money back he was kidnapped by
unidentified persons. According to Khalid when he was being kidnapped,
he saw Sh Adil coming out of his office and watching the entire drama.
“I called him for help but he paid no attention,” told Khalid. He
further said that his kidnappers took him to the tribal area and kept
him in captivity for over 21 days. During all this while he was
tortured and chained.
Meanwhile, his captors also forced him to
sign affidavits and demanded Rs25 million from his son. After
negotiations between his son and the kidnappers, an amount of Rs2.7
million was agreed and the kidnappers released him after getting the
money.
Mohsan son of Khalid Mehmood told Online that Bhara Kahu
Police Station filed FIR without their will and when in a supplementary
statement, I pleaded to the investigation officers to include Sheikh
Naseem Adil and his son for investigation, however, nothing had been
done so far. While applications were also tendered to SSP Islamabad,
Tahir Alam, IG Islamabad, Binyamin and SP Captain (R) Ilyas for just
investigation, but SP City in return tried to pressurize us despite
providing justice.
However, when Online contacted with
investigation officer, Sub-Inspector Ishaq, he said that kidnappers
were demanding ransom of Rs 25 million, but police tried to reduce it
only Rs. 2.7 million, therefore, they should be grateful to police for
their efforts despite complaining. While SP Kamran Adil’s father and
brother are innocent in this case.
Meanwhile, when Online tried
to contact with SP Kamran Adil to take his opinion, moreover, Online
asked from SP Kamran Adil’s father Sheikh Naseem, he too said that the
FIR petitioners pretended a kidnapping drama. The victims told Online
that despite of their grave efforts to get justice nothing has been
done so far. Therefore, the file petitioners appealed to the Chief
Justice of Pakistan for justice. Online
