A-20 Members multiparty parliamentary delegation headed by Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy
Speaker, National Assembly left for New Delhi to hold talks on Kashmir
dispute and other longstanding unresolved issues with India.
The dialogues between Pakistani and Indian parliamentary delegations
would start today (Thursday) and would continue for two days.
The issues would be started from previous talks which were held on
6-7 January this year in Islamabad; meanwhile the issues which would be
discussed in the dialogues include increase in public contacts,
relaxation in visa process, terrorism, issue of Jammu and Kashmir,
water disputes, role of media, confidence building measures, women
role, role of army and intelligence agencies and frequent exchange of
parliamentary delegations visits between the two countries.
During its stay in India the delegation will participate in the
second round of Pakistan-India Parliamentarians’ Dialogue. The dialogue
will be held today (Thursday) and tomorrow. The Members of the
delegation will interact with their Indian Counterparts and discuss
bilateral relation and matters pertaining to mutual interest of both
the countries.
The parliamentary who left for India include Faisal Karim Kundi,
Deputy Speaker, National Assembly, MNAs. Dr. Ayatullah Durrani, Ms.
Anusha Rehman Khan, Mr. Humayun Saifullah Khan, Mr. Khurram Dastagir
Khan, Mr. Laiq Muhammad Khan, Mr. Nadeem Afzal Gondal, Ms. Nafisa Shah,
Nawabzada Malik Ammad Khan, Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Sardar Awais Ahmad
Khan Leghari, Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi, Deputy
Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Jamali, Jehangir Badar, Afrasayab Khattak
and others; meanwhile Senator SM Zaffar and former external and fiancé
minister of India Yashwant Sinha would co-chair the dialogues.
Meanwhile 49 Indian parliamentarians belonging to 14 political parties have confirmed their participation in the dialogues.
Meanwhile talking tot media persons at the Lahore airport Jan
Muhammad Jamali hoped that the dialogue with India would
result-oriented, adding that establishment and foreign office were
failed to reach any breakthrough in 64 years.
He said that now democratic governments are present in both
countries and the parliamentarians should be given time to play their
role for the solution of the problems facing by the two countries.
He said that Pakistan could not withdraw from the Kashmir dispute,
adding that all issues including Kashmir dispute, water, Siachen, trade
would be discussed in the dialogues.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi talking to media
persons said that the dialogues were held many times between the two
countries and some times both countries had reached near the agreement
but the irresponsible issuance of statements had created deadlock.
He said that Pakistan wants to solve all the disputes with India
trough dialogues; meanwhile replying a question Faisal Karim Kundi said
he is still stand on hi stance that the Dera Ismail Khan should be
included in Saraeki province, adding that he is ready to contact any
forum for this purpose.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that referendum could also be held for known
about the will of the DI Khan people, adding that 80 percent people
would vote in favour of Saraeki province.
Senator Jehangir Badar said that both countries could deal with the
menace of terrorism through joint efforts, adding that if PML-N
President Mian Nawaz Sharif wants to carry out long march it should
fulfill its desire but it should keep in mind the circumstances of the
country from doing so.
Secretary Information PPP Qamar Zaman Kaira said that it is desire
of the government that the relations between the two countries could be
normalized, adding that it also the desire of government that the
stability could come in the country.
Replying a question Kaira said that Nawaz Sharif is a gentle man and
if he intends to hold long march he should fulfill his desire, adding
that the next elections would be held after one and half years, adding
that Nawaz should prepare for the next elections and if Nawaz has any
intention to oust the government than he should clearly told his
intentions.
SM Zaffar on the occasion said that both countries are nuclear
powers war is not the solution of any problem, adding that the trade
and visa policy would also be discussed.
Haider Abbas Rizvi on the occasion said that the ice on the Kashmir
dispute could only be melted through trade, adding that the improvement
in Karachi situation is possible only through improvement in economy,
adding that all options should have to be used for this purpose. He
said that masses of both countries wanted to move forward in the
dialogue process. SANA
