JuD has no links with suicide bombers, al-Qaeda: Hafiz Saeed

LAHORE: Amir of Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Prof Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has said that JuD is against suicide attacks and has no links with al-Qaeda.

In an interview with a private TV channel, he said JuD had nothing against the US or India and was in agreement with the religious scholars who had issues edicts against suicide attacks.
“There is no room for terrorism in slam and it is permissible neither against Muslims nor the non-Muslims,” said the religious scholar. He regretted that the government had put him behind the bars on the demand of the Indian government. “I was released on the orders of the High Court. Later, Supreme Court also gave a decision in our favour. I have no hand in the Mumbai attacks nor any case has been proven against me but I am repeatedly kept in house arrest,” he regretted.
The government in order to prevent my release, so far, has changed six judges which is regrettable said he. Prof Saeed said that JuD had no problem with India. The only point of irritancy is Kashmir as “We don’t think Indian occupation of Kashmir is justifiable and we have raised the issue on all forums,” said Hafiz Saeed. He said that he openly criticised Indian occupation of Kashmir and this is the central point of conflict between Indian government and the JuD.
He said that Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhwi was a JuD scholar and had nothing to do with the Mumbai attacks nor any case was proved against him but the government had taken him as captive on the international pressure.
“We support independence movement in the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) while India had underplayed the Kashmir dispute using its economic might. Taking full advantage of 9/11, India had secured successful entrance to Afghan soil and hatching conspiracies from there to destabilise Balochistan and the country at large,” he said.
He said all the institutions being run by the JuD were registered and aimed at relief and welfare works. To a question, he said JuD had no office in Afghanistan nor it works there. He said JuD was not a B-team of the army. “We support and love our armed forces as they have defended the country,” he said. He strongly rejected the impression that any institution or organisation was assisting JuD. Online
