for Interior Rehman Malik arrived here on Friday to attend the fourth
South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Interior
Ministers’ Conference. Rehman Malik, being a Chairman, would chair the conference on Saturday.Bhutan’s Home Minister and Governor of the Capital warmly received Rehman Malik upon his arrival at the airport.On
his way to Thimphu, Rehman Malik made a short stay at the New Delhi
Airport where he was received by Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram
and High Commissioner of Pakistan Shahid Malik.
Both the ministers discussed matters relating to mutual interests, particularly of SAARC.According to information,
authorities of the eight-member Association discussed issues relating to
immigration on Thursday while Home Secretaries met on Friday to discuss
the relevant agenda.
Talking to media persons at the airport, Rehman Malik said the SAARC was the best forum which was helping the members to understand one another’s viewpoint.
It may be mentioned that the Home and Interior Ministers, Secretaries and other relevant officials of SAARC including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka are attending the conference.
The first meeting of SAARC Interior/Home Ministers was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh while the second one was held in New Delhi.
The 3rd meeting of SAARC Interior/Home Ministers was held in Islamabad from June 23-26, 2010. APP
