Rangers’ personnel plea for transferring their case to session court rejected

KARACHI: Judge Bashir Ahmad Khoso of Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has rejected the application for transferring the case of Sarfraz Shah who was killed by Ranger personnel to session court saying in his short order that case will be tried in ATC.

Counsels for Rangers personnel had requested the court that the case did not fall in the jurisdiction of ATC therefore, it be transferred to sessions court.
The court had issued notice to public prosecutor with reference to this application. The court rejected the plea after hearing the arguments from both the sides.
The judge made it clear on all the counsels that it would start recording statements of witnesses from Monday as the case had already been much delayed and Supreme Court had ordered for completion of trial of the case within 30 days.
Counsels for Rangers Personnel prayed the court that they be provided joint investigation report.
Nemat Ullah Randhawa and Shaukat Hayat counsels for Rangers personnel had said that they would file appeal against this decision in Supreme Court.
Public Prosecutor said it would be contempt of court if it was done so. Neither the payment of Dyat could be made to legal heirs of victim Sarfraz nor any deal could be struck between the two parties following the imposition of clauses of terrorism. The culprits have to face death penalty at every cost if the crime is proved. Online
