Dr Samar Mubarik terms power crisis as dangerous for country

Dr Samar Mubarik Mand the atomic scientist and member science and technology wing of the planning commission has said that the shortfall of electricity and gas is very dangerous for the country. He said that Pakistan is facing loss of 300 billion rupees annually and four lack people are becoming jobless annually.

He said that if we would not solve the issue of power on permanent basis than country could face alarming number in unemployed people and financial losses.
This he said while addressing the Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industry representatives, businessmen and exporters and later on talking to media persons here on Saturday.
He said that unfortunately we were very active to preparing the plans but we were very lazy to complete the projects, the government is not responsible for not completing the projects but the people are responsible who were in charge of projects.
He said that we have started a model project with the help of government and after the completion of this project we would expand it within no time. He said that hopefully the foreign investors would be helpful for us to find the coal in Thar.
He said that the project of producing energy from coal is purposed by the planning commission and it is funded by the government of Pakistan. He said that the federal government approved this project and the Sindh government not only provided the land but also allow to start work on the project.
He said that the project of Thar coal would be completed in two phases, in phase one, we would find the gas from drilling and in second phase we would produce energy of 100 mega vats from it.
He said that they never disappointed, the complexities in the government laws are the hurdle in the completion of the projects.
He said that we discovered the Ther coal 22 years ago but still we are not getting even a sing kg coal from the reserves.
He said that the 41.61 percent electricity of the world is being produced from the coal, adding that India is producing 64 percent electricity from the coal; meanwhile Pakistan is only producing 2.2% electricity from coal.
Dr Samar Mubarak said that the biggest problem, which industries of the country are facing is energy shortage. He added that if air compressors are made available then electricity and gas could be produced from Thar from next month. He pointed out that the solution for the problem is coal gas station but the implementation of policies and projects is weak in this regard. SANA
