All efforts to be made for brining peace in Afghanistan: PM Gilani

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan sincerely desires for peace and stability in Afghanistan and will extend all possible support to the Afghan led reconciliation peace process. He assured that Pakistan is committed to create conducive environment for meaningful negotiations leading to peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister was talking to Foreign Secretary, Salman Bashir at the Prime Minister’s House here on Saturday, who called on him to apprise about his recent visit to Afghanistan for the Trilateral Core Group meeting.
The Foreign Secretary has informed the Prime Minister that he has also called on the President Hamid Karzai who conveys his good wishes for the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister. He also apprised about his discussion with the Afghan leadership on the Bilateral Agreements on Joint Commission between Pakistan and Afghanistan after Trilateral Core Group meeting.
Meanwhile in meeting with former minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Prime Minister said that the Government’s primary focus is on provision of relief to the masses. He maintained that the provisions taken in budget will help check inflation and bring down commodities prices within the reach of common man. Government has also planned to increase the number of Utility Stores in all Union Councils before the onset of Ramadan, he added.
The Prime Minister observed that Government is cognizant of the rising energy demands in the country. Various short and medium term measures, he added, have already been taken to bridge gap between demand and supply. Energy conservation measures are also being taken to mitigate the shortage as a short-term measure, he maintained.
Mr. Nazar Muhammad Gondal congratulated the Prime Minister on clear victory of PPP in Kashmir elections. He also apprised the Prime Minister about on-going development schemes in his constituency.
Meanwhile Abdul Rauf Chaudhry, Secretary Establishment, who is retiring on 6th July 2011 paid a farewell call on the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
The Prime Minister commended Mr. Abdul Rauf Chaudhry for his services as a civil servant while working in various capacities during his tenure of duty.
He also wished him well for his future endeavours. Mr Abdul Rauf Chaudhry thanked the Prime Minister for his guidance and support during discharge of his duties. SANA
