Govt wants to avert confrontation among the institutions: PM Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said government wants to strengthen the institutions and avert confrontation among them.

“We want clash among the institutions is averted and they gain further strength. How can it be possible those who have restored constitution don’t understand its spirit? Revival of institution bears testimony that we want to consolidate the institutions”, he said this while addressing inauguration ceremony of pictures exhibition titled “ Pakistan armed forces role for peace in the world” at National Council of Arts here and later talking to media men Thursday.
Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, information minister Firdous Ashiq Awan, Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and others attended the ceremony.
He went on to say all the matters related to Supreme Court (SC) will be settled with the spirit of accommodation and reconciliation . The reports about clash among the institutions are based on assumptions. “We respect all institutions”, he added.
Pakistan is playing its responsible role for establishment of peace in the regions and the names of the sons of the soil who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of global peace have been written down on the pages of history.
“We are proud of making its contribution by Pakistan to the collective share of peace. We will continue to play our role for peace in the region”, he underlined.
Pakistan was affected more than any other country in the world by terrorism during the last several years, he held. Pakistan had rendered more sacrifices than any other country after becoming ally in war against terrorism , he maintained. Our national economy was adversely affected, he added.
Root cause of terrorism can be addressed only through adoption of comprehensive strategy against terrorism, he underscored.
He underlined that interfaith harmony was must for establishment of moderate society. UN will have to move forward its efforts more against terrorism, he stressed.
He said Pakistan armed forces would maintain its traditions, which demonstrated its excellent capabilities for the establishment of peace. The efforts made by our armed forces for elimination of terrorism are laudable, he added. War against terrorism and extremism is collective obligation of civilized world, he underlined.
Pakistan has its own stance on the issue of increasing the permanent members of UN Security Council. Regional situation be not overlooked in the process of introduction of reforms of any sort in Security Council.
As per Online the PM later talking to media men said “Pakistan has given sacrifices of 35000 lives in war against terrorism. Who knows better than us the price of peace. Pakistan wants its relations with all its neighbours on the principle of equality. The stance of government and army about the ties with US”.
Terrorism cannot be stamped out through blame game and all the stakeholders will have to play responsible role. “We reject the hegemony of any country in the region”, he remarked. Online
