PML-N threatens to move SC on non-devolution of profit earning departments to provinces

ISLAMABAD: Deadlock persists between PML-N and PPP on non handing over of fit earning departments to the provinces in respect of the ministries devolved to them under 18th amendment and PML-N has threatened to move Supreme Court on this matter.

Well placed sources told minister for water and power Naveed Qamar met PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar and took the plea that implementation commission has transferred 17 ministries and its allied departments to provinces under 18th amendment. Had PML-N any objection with regard to devolution of any institution or department it should have raised it on respective forum before June, 30. Federal ministries which were to be merged into provinces now stand dissolved.
Sources told Ishaq Dar said over 40 profit earning departments have not been devolved to the provinces by federations. They include several allied departments of ministry of health and ministry of sports, workers welfare fund, EOBI, Sheikh Zaid Hospital and other departments. This is sheer breach of 18th amendment, he said.
Sources told Ishaq Dar while apprising federal minister of the reservations of PML-N had made it clear that his party would not sit mute on this matter and would take it at every forum including council for common interests. Online
