ECC imposes levy on LPG

ISLAMABAD: Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved to impose levy of Rs 10 to Rs12 per kilogram on indigenous production of liquid petroleum gas (LPG).

The meeting of ECC was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, which discussed LPG policy for 2011. The meeting decided that levy would be imposed on local production of 100 dollar to 120 dollar per ton.
Under new policy OGRA would issue licenses to the LPG marketing companies on provincial basis within a year time. The licenses of those companies would be cancelled, which supply more than five ton per day. OGRA will talk to the companies for bringing vehicles on LPG and establishing LPG filling stations
The committee also approved the distribution of gas purchased from Iran between Sui Southern and Sui Northern companies. The committee also approved to import 75,000 ton urea fertilizers. Online
