PAC declares FBR performance unsatisfactory

ISLAMABAD: Special Committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has termed the performance of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) unsatisfactory saying FBR should rectify its administrative matters within a month.

Committee met here Tuesday under Begum Yasmin Rehman in parliament house to review audit objections with regard to FBR.
PAC sought details about tax paid by major companies. FBI officials told they could not provide details to any one about the tax payments made by tax payers legally.
Chairman FBR Suleman Siddique told notification was issued after the summary was received from law ministry in respect of the companies which were allowed 3.50 percent concession by the prime minister through announcement.
Chairman committee said tax refund method be simplified adding if concession has to be allowed in tax then allowing refund stands to no justification.
Member of committee Haider Abbas Rizvi said petrol at large scale was being smuggled from Iran to Pakistan and it was causing loss to country. Intelligence system is reactivated to prevent this smuggling, he demanded.
Chairman FBR told collector custom and FC had been issued directives in this regard. Online
