ISLAMABAD: Special Committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has
termed the performance of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) unsatisfactory
saying FBR should rectify its administrative matters within a month.
Committee met here Tuesday under Begum Yasmin Rehman in parliament house to review audit objections with regard to FBR.
PAC
sought details about tax paid by major companies. FBI officials told
they could not provide details to any one about the tax payments made
by tax payers legally.
Chairman FBR Suleman Siddique told
notification was issued after the summary was received from law
ministry in respect of the companies which were allowed 3.50 percent
concession by the prime minister through announcement.
Chairman
committee said tax refund method be simplified adding if concession has
to be allowed in tax then allowing refund stands to no justification.
Member
of committee Haider Abbas Rizvi said petrol at large scale was being
smuggled from Iran to Pakistan and it was causing loss to country.
Intelligence system is reactivated to prevent this smuggling, he
demanded.
Chairman FBR told collector custom and FC had been issued directives in this regard. Online
