President Zardari lauds Bestway’s contribution to Pakistan economy

President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday lauded the contribution of Bestway Group in the economic development and growth of both Pakistan and Britain. In a meeting with the the Chairman Bestway Group and head of the charity Bestway Foundation Sir Anwar Parvez this afternoon, the President also appreciated the assistance provided by his Foundation for relief and rehabilitation of flood victims in Pakistan. Prospects of further enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and the UK to  2.5 billion pounds by 2015 as decided by the two governments and the role of private entrepreneurs in this regard  also came under discussion during the meeting.
The Bestway Group has extensive investments in Pakistan from cement to banking sector.
Member, British upper house of Parliament, Lord Nazir Ahmed also called on the President and condoled with him on the demise of his father Hakim Ali Zardari and offered fateha.
Issues relating to Pakistan-UK bilateral relations and the Pakistani Diaspora were also exchanged on the occasion.  The President appreciated the efforts of Lord Ahmed in highlighting Pakistan’s position on various issues at different forums.
Lord  Ahmed congraulated the President on the success of Pakistan Peoples Party in the recently held elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the contribution of Pakistan origin community to the UK’s economic, social and political scene. A million strong Pakistan community contributes significantly to the British economy and Pak-UK bilateral ties.
He also discussed ways on how the UK-based Pakistanis could play a greater role in promoting country’s positive image. APP
