Former Pakistan cricketer, Sarfaz Nawaz has said that the cricketer, Shahid
Afridi should only lead the country's Twenty 20 squad.
"Even if Shahid Afridi was unhappy with the team that was selected in the
last two one day internationals, his job was to lead the team to victory and
make sure everyone gave 100%, but it was clear to see that he was not self
motivated and couldn't motivate his team either. I believe that it's time for
Afridi to step down from the one day captaincy and concentrate solely on leading
the team in twenty over cricket," PakPassion.net quoted him, as saying.
Nawaz was also criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision of not
allowing the chief selector Mohsin Khan to resign from his post. He also
questioned as to why Mohsin Khan was not given showcause notice for threatening
to resign for his differences with the board over the team selection.
He also laid stress on the need to review the on- tour team selection
procedure. He recommended that the chief selector in consultation with 'on tour'
selection committee comprising the coach and captain should pick the final
eleven players, on the criterion of merit. (ANI)
