he father of one of the two men killed by
CIA contractor Raymond Davis in Lahore is living in Toba Tek Singh
district in Pakistan's Punjab province.
The family had gone missing following the release of Davis from Lahore
Central Jail, when he paid the blood money for the heirs of two men he
killed in January.
Fahim's father Rana Shamshad Ahmed revealed that he had received Rs.100
million as blood money, and said that he bought the house in Toba Tek
Singh just a week ago.
Ahmed, however, insisted that nobody, including the Pakistan Punjab
government, had pressurized them to accept the money, The Nation
reports.
He further said that the US would have taken its citizen even if he had not accepted the money.
The fatal killings by Davis on January 27 in Lahore had ignited a furore in Pakistan.
The US, adamant on getting its citizen released, had on the other hand
intensified its pressure on Pakistan, with US lawmakers threatening to
cut aid to Islamabad unless it freed the CIA contractor.
On March 16- the same day when he was indicted for double murder- Davis
was freed and quickly flown out of Pakistan after the heirs of the two
victims told a local court that they had accepted compensation,
bringing the one and a half month-long saga to an abrupt end. (ANI)
