MULTAN,ISLAMABAD : Former Federal Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood
Qureshi has said that the proposed commission on
Abbotabad incident is the outcome of Army Chief efforts.
Talking to media at Multan Airport Qureshi said taking Parliament into
confidence after 11 days of the operation produced distrust on the government
strategy.
He said it is unjust to term his questions asked during the in-camera session
of the joint sitting of the parliament as irrelevant. He also questioned the
government saying the day Abbotabad incident took place, presidency was engaged
in oath taking ceremony of PLM-Q ministers, while Prime Minister left for France
visit; instead taking masses into confidence regarding the Abbottabad
incident.
He said it is misunderstanding of the US that war on terror can be won
without Pakistan’s cooperation.
Meanwhile in an interview with a private TV channel, Shah Mehmood Qureshi
said that being a foreign minister, he worked honestly, and President Asif Ali
Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani were satisfied with his
performance.
He said that he does not know that why he is removed from his post but may be
he was punished because he speaks truth, adding that he is satisfied because he
did his job with sincerity.
He said that president has the power to remove him and he accepted the
president’s decision, adding that to remain minister without respect is not in
his politics. He said that he worked on many posts so he does not have greed for
the posts, which are like shadows.
Replying a question, he said that in three years, he never had differences
with prime minister and Prime Minister appreciated his performance. He said that
during his regime, he worked for foreign policy and he did his best for national
interest, adding that being a foreign minister he fought Pakistan’s case at
every forum. He said that transit trade with Afghanistan, dialogues initiated
with India and relations started with European Union in his period.
He said that when cabinet was formed first time, he refused to became foreign
minister and asked them to leave him working in Punjab, adding that he do not
have greed for posts. He said that he did not participate in politics for power
like others and he met with Pir Pagra because he is a senior politician. SANA
