Karachi : With a win in the first Test, below-par West Indies has overtaken Pakistan in the ongoing tour as the visitors completely lacked professionalism and its batsmen have been struggling throughout the ongoing tour, feels former star cricketer Zaheer Abbas.
“Pakistan’s performance was highly disappointing in the Test match. They should have defeated West Indies in all matches. But West Indies now have four wins as compared to Pakistan’s three in the ongoing tour. So I think they have outclassed Pakistan,” Zaheer Abbas told PPI.West Indies won the lone T20 match, two ODIs out of five and now one Test match against visiting Pakistan team.“Our players lacked professionalism. They even failed to achieve a modest total in their second inning,” he added. Pakistan needed only 218 runs in their second inning to overcome West Indies, however they lost all their wickets, after scoring only 178 runs. Zaheer said that Pakistan’s Achilles heel is its batting department and there need to be done a lot ofwork to overcome this problem. “Pakistan batsmen have been struggling throughout the tournament so I think PCB should have to do something to overcome this problem if they want to form a good side,” he said.Meanwhile, another former cricket Iqbal Qasim also said that Pakistan should have performed well against lowly ranked West Indies side and the loss to West Indies in the Test match has been further accentuated due to the fact that the hosts didn’t had the services of its top and experienced players.“We saw paradoxical things in the Test match. West Indies fast bowler took more wickets as compared tospinners, however Pakistani pacers struggled while the spinners performed brilliantly,” Iqbal said.Iqbal added that Pakistan did well in bowling department but its batting department struggled. He said that the uneven bounce in the pitch also made the life difficult for the vulnerable Pakistani batting line-up. PPI
