Pakistan apprises UN chief of resolution on Abbottabad raid

Pakistan's National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza has apprised the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon about the adoption of a resolution by Pakistan's Parliament, condemning the Abbottabad operation, as a violation of the country's sovereignty.
Mirza also urged the UN to recognize the colossal human and material losses sustained by Pakistan in combating terrorism, The Nation reports.
She also highlighted the legislative work done by Pakistan's Parliament, especially the adoption of 18th and 19th constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening democracy and the passage of 16 bills relating to welfare, empowerment and protection of women and children.
Ban Ki Moon lauded Pakistan's fight against terrorism and its role in the UN noting that it is the largest troops contributor of UN Peacekeeping Operations. He highlighted Pakistan's role in restoring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
He appreciated Mirza for undertaking initiatives towards protection and empowerment of women, saying she is a role model for women. Ban Ki Moon also acknowledged Mirza's contribution in building parliamentary consensus and establishing Parliamentary Caucus. (ANI)
