No compromise to be made on security of Int’l sporting teams: Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has made it clear that the security akin to international standard would be lent to international teams including India.

“Attack on Sri Lankan team was a conspiracy against Pakistan”, he said this while talking to media men along with Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ejaz Butt after meeting with him.
He lauded efforts being made by PCB and Pakistan Hockey Federation to bring international teams into Pakistan. The team of Afghanistan is visiting Pakistan this month, he said, adding that, Pakistan is also hopeful for Pak-India cricket and hockey series in future.
No compromise, he said, would be made on security of international teams. Replying to a question, the interior minister said, negative propaganda is being hitched against Pakistan with regard to security.
“Tell me a single country in a world where there is no security issue”, he questioned. No one would be allowed to carryout attack akin to attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, the interior minister added. Al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other terrorist organizations are trying their level best to alienate Pakistan from rest of the world but they would not succeed in their nefarious design, he claimed.
Answering to a question, he said, talks are underway with India for cricket and hockey series between both countries. Chairman PCB Ejaz Butt told media men that the meeting with interior minister was aimed to discuss and finalize security measures of international teams.
PCB is in touch with Sri Lankan and Indian cricket boards for cricket series in future, he added. When asked about investigation into the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team, he said, report has been dispatched to international cricket council and it has expressed satisfaction over the report. Online
