ISLAMAABAD : Special Representative of United States for Afghanistan and Pakistan
Marc Grossman met the President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff
General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani,
Director General
Inter-Services-Intelligence (ISI) Lt. Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha and State
Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar here on Thursday and
discussed post Abbottabad incident situation between the two countries.
During the meeting with Asif Ali Zardari, he discussed the situation
after the killing of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan, American drone
attacks in tribal areas and joint resolution of parliament in detail in
the presence of American Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter.
In the meeting Marc Grossman informed the President Zardari about
the view of American administration that Pakistan and America have to
work together to eliminate the terrorism and extremism from the region.
President Zardari told the Grossman that Pakistani masses and
military has rendered great scarifies in war against terrorism, adding
that in the future masses and military’s role would be very vital in
the war against terrorism like past.
President told American special envoy that Abbottabad operation
against Osama bin Laden was clearly a violation of Pakistan’s
sovereignty and America should respect sovereignty of Pakistan
according to international laws because we are an independent nation
and masses of the country expect from the America that it will respect
their sovereignty because Pakistan is fighting war against terrorism
with same motives.
During the meeting, he discussed the situation after the killing of
Osama bin Laden in US unilateral operation and war against terrorism
and changing situation in the region after OBL’s killing.
During the meeting with State Minister, he discussed the situation
after the Raymond Davis case and Abbottabad incident in the country.
Marc Grossman also called on Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at General Headquarters on Thursday.
During the meeting, the visiting dignitary discussed future of
Pak-US engagement concerning reconciliations process in Afghanistan.
Mark Grossman also held meeting with DG ISI to enhance the
cooperation between Pakistan and America and Pakistani military
leadership conveyed the concerns of Pakistan to Grossman.
Meanwhile Deputy Director Central Intelligence Agency Mike Muriel ,
who is accompanying Mark Grossman, met DG ISI Lt General Shuja Pasha
and in the meeting, they discussed the situation of the region after
the Abbottabad incident.
According to a private TV channel in the meeting they also discussed
the intelligence sharing between intelligence organizations of both
countries.
Sources reported that in the meeting future strategies to restore
the confidence between two important allies of war against terrorism
were also under consideration. SANA
