Lahore High court adjourns plea against Facebook

The Lahore High Court(LHC) has adjouned till Thursday a plea seeking a permanent ban on the social networking site Facebook for its plans to hold a blasphemous contest on May 20.
High Court Justice Azmat Saeed put off the hearing after the attorney general failed to appear before the court, The Dawn reports.
The petitioner had sought directions from the Pakistan Government to stop the display of blasphemous or religious content on Facebook and other social networking sites in Pakistan.
His counsel pleaded that the police be directed to register a criminal case under Section 295-C and other relevant provisions of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against perpetrators.
He urged the Pakistan Government to establish a permanent legal authority to monitor objectionable blasphemous activities across the world.(ANI)
